The Challenge
Stellar Eats had a premium, health-conscious CPG product, but their digital storefront felt cheap. Their legacy WooCommerce template was bogged down by bloated plugins, taking over 6 seconds to render on mobile networks. The user experience was convoluted, resulting in an atrocious 82% cart abandonment rate. They needed an enterprise-grade digital experience that matched the luxury quality of their actual physical product.
The Strategy
We proposed a complete separation of concerns: a headless commerce architecture. We decoupled the front-end entirely from the backend, electing to build a custom Next.js application powered by Shopify Plus in the background. Our UX research indicated that users were paralyzed by the paradox of choice, so we redesigned the primary navigation to funnel users immediately into customized bundle-builders rather than endless scrolling catalogs.
The Execution
The design phase focused heavily on neuromarketing principles—utilizing whitespace, ultra-sharp typography, and high-fidelity 3D food renders to stimulate appetite appeal. We engineered a seamless, one-click slide-out cart that kept the user anchored on the product page rather than forcing a heavy redirect. Upon launch, the headless Next.js edge-network resulted in 1.2-second load times. Mobile conversion skyrocketed by 180%, and Average Order Value (AOV) increased by 45% due to the new bundle architecture.
